New Book on Becoming a Successful Writer

For the past few years I have been traveling the country giving a talk titled “The Ten Keys to Becoming a Successful Writer.” I speak about those characteristics and habits manifested by all accomplished writers, how important they are to editors, publishers, and agents, and how they can be attained if they are not already part of the writer’s make-up. Noted authors, editors, agents, and publishers have endorsed the talk and, in fact, contributed heavily to its content. Several editors have suggested that their writers obtain a copy of the book because, as one said, “It tells them what they need to know to succeed with my publishing company.”

Following a presentation of “Ten Keys” at the famous Writing the Rockies conference in Gunnison, Colorado, I was approached by Susan Stoltz, one of the dynamic owners of Rockin’ SR Publishing Company. She asked me if I had a book on the topic. When I said no, she said she would like to publish one. She wanted to include it in her new Do This Stuff series. I agreed, and Want to Become a Successful Writer? Do This Stuff was created and released during the first week of June.

WTBASW?DTS is not a how-to book. There are hundreds of how-to books on the market and, by all accounts, they are all the same and offer little that is new or useful. Instead, WTBASW?DTS addresses those elements that characterize virtually every successful writer, those characteristics that separate them from the pack and propel them to the top of the heap in sales and success.

Further, WTBASW?DTS points the direction toward attaining these characteristics should they not already be part and parcel of the writer’s personality. It works. Over the years, we have seen beginning and intermediate writers adopt the characteristics and habits discussed in this book and attain their publishing goals.
